Engineering For Kids Offers a Fun Learning Alternative during the Pandemic

As many students settle into another semester of distance learning, or at least modified schedules and social distancing, many parents worry kids will start to fall behind in their studies. The US already trails many other countries when it comes to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills, and the lack of in-person instruction and hands-on learning has the potential to derail children’s interest in various subjects even further. That’s why Engineering For Kids has become a vital resource for kids and their parents in locations where it is available and why it makes sense to bring our educational franchise opportunity to even more communities across the country.

In a recent interview with a local North Carolina news station, Rowan Dell-deRonde, who helps support and develop our Engineering For Kids curriculum, discussed the importance of our mission to make learning fun. As she points out, with all of the circumstances surrounding distance learning right now, kids may not have a positive association with learning and find it to be a chore. Where Engineering For Kids becomes so innovative is in how we present our curriculum—kids often don’t even realize they’re learning. For instance, kids may think they’re simply playing Minecraft, when in reality they’re also learning about robotics. Our programs use these methods to teach coding, aerospace engineering, and other subjects.

When communities have access to educational programs like those offered by Engineering For Kids, children ages 4-14 get a boost in all of the STEM skills they’ll need for virtually any career they choose—not just those in traditional STEM fields. Because science, technology, engineering, and math are so interrelated, our programs offer a well-rounded supplemental education to a student’s daily school curriculum. STEM education teaches soft skills, too, including teamwork, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving.

As an Engineering For Kids franchise owner, you can help spark a passion for science and technology in students in your community and show them learning can be fun and engaging. We have adapted to the new challenges of the pandemic, just as other schools and businesses have, and our franchise owners have shifted to a hybrid model for classes and programs. Some are pre-recorded, while others are live to preserve the social aspect of learning.

If you’ve been considering investing in our education franchise, now is an excellent time to get started. The extracurricular programs offered by Engineering For Kids provide an important resource for children who are struggling to stay engaged with distance learning or who want to dive into a new skill or hobby—and that need for alternative learning options isn’t going away anytime soon.
