How It All Began Dori Roberts Stewart taught engineering to high school students for 11 years and has an extensive math and technology education background. Throughout her career, she noticed there was a dire need for more focus on math, science, and engineering. This is when she had the idea to create a program that would fill this void. She started an after-school program that offered various engineering and science-based competitions. That program grew into what is now Engineering For Kids, which offers youth ages 4 to 14 a suite of programs that introduce them to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through a variety of classes and workshops that help to develop problem-solving techniques.
